In December 2002, driven by a steadfast commitment to the seven Army Core Values—Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage—I founded Joint Technology Solution, Inc.
My professional journey began in 1978 when I joined the Army. I was profoundly inspired by its operational efficiency and its ability to communicate mission-critical requirements on a global scale. This formative experience underscored the importance of critical thinking and the pivotal role of self-awareness in effective leadership. I firmly believe that while every individual is responsible for their own spiritual and professional development, it is equally essential to cultivate an environment that empowers others to lead. Both the military and industry share the objective of building high-performance teams to achieve essential program goals and a clear strategic vision. Guided by this philosophy, JTS is dedicated to fostering personal and professional growth among our employees, empowering them to excel, and nurturing a healthy, positive, and collaborative work environment within the organizations we serve.
Serving as a Signal Officer provided me with the specialized expertise required to support major Department of Defense Acquisition programs. During that time, I gained invaluable insights into the importance of collaboration, transparency, clarity, compliance, and traceability in achieving mission objectives. This experience reinforced my belief in the necessity of lifelong mentorship and the critical importance of cultivating the next generation of American leaders. Embracing evolving industry standards and DoD doctrinal updates has been a cornerstone of my ongoing development, both in the military and in the corporate sector. Today, principles such as agility, precision, and flexibility are integral to JTS’s operational framework, enabling us to function as an extension of the agencies we support by efficiently fulfilling contractual obligations and meeting critical program requirements.
In 2012, to further advance our mission, I welcomed Ms. Tania Garavito—my daughter—whose extensive experience with leading industry contractors significantly strengthened our business portfolio. In 2017, she led the acquisition of MTCI, expanding our services beyond Information Technology to include comprehensive Human Capital solutions such as Financial Management, Training, Family Programs, and Resilience Programs. This strategic expansion positioned JTS to better address service members’ lifecycle management needs while diversifying our IT capabilities to encompass systems for Human Resources, Payroll, and Logistics. As a result, our client base has grown to include notable agencies, including the VA and NOAA.
In recent years, JTS’s vision has shifted from solely providing services to driving innovation. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, we identified a significant communication gap among patients, their families, and healthcare providers. To address this critical issue, we launched the Automated Family Alert System (AFAS), now available nationwide. Today, JTS operates in more than 30 states, is ISO 9001-2015 certified, and adheres to the DoD Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) standards. Protecting Federal Contract Information (FCI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) remains a top priority, underscoring our unwavering commitment to national security in compliance with CMMC requirements.
We take pride in our achievements and eagerly anticipate the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in this dynamic and ever-evolving world.
