With a commitment to the seven Army Core Values- Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage – I founded Joint Technology Solution, Inc. in December 2002.
My journey began when I joined the Army in 1978. I was inspired by the organization’s ability to function efficiently and communicate critical mission requirements and objectives worldwide. This strategic approach introduced me to “critical thinking, ” revealing that self-awareness is the cornerstone of effective leadership. While each of us is responsible for our own spiritual and professional development, we also have a duty to create the necessary conditions to empower others to become leaders. Ultimately, both military and industry share the main objective of building high-performance teams to deliver critical program objectives and requirements. Guided by this philosophy, JTS is dedicated to fostering personal and professional growth among our employees, empowering them to become leaders in their fields, and cultivating healthy, positive, and collaborative work environments with those organizations we support.
My experience as a Signal Officer equipped me with the necessary professional expertise to support major DoD acquisition programs, including Global Command and Control System (GCCS), Navy Marine Corp Intranet, and the Integrated Personnel Pay System -Army, just to mention a few. Keeping pace with evolving industry standards and DoD doctrinal changes became critical components in the continuous development of my military and professional career. Today, key DoD doctrinal attributes such as agility, precision, flexibility, and others have been incorporated into JTS’s business practices, allowing us to function as an extension of those agencies we support in the delivery of contractual obligations and program requirements.
In 2012, to help advance JTS’s mission, I recruited Ms. Tania Garavito – my daughter – who brought a business portfolio of experience with larger contractors in the industry. In 2017, she led the acquisition of MTCI, expanding our business portfolio from Information Technology to Human Capital solutions including Financial Management, Training, Family Programs, Resilience Programs, and others. This positioned JTS to support service members’ life cycle management needs while broadening our IT portfolio to include systems supporting Human Resources, Pay, and Logistics. Our client base has since expanded to include agencies such as the VA and NOAA.
In recent years, JTS has transitioned from a focus on “services” to “innovation”. In 2020 during the COVID epidemic, JTS identified a communication gap between patients, their families, and healthcare providers. To address this critical healthcare gap, we launched the Automated Family Alert System (afas), which is now available nationwide. Today, JTS operates in over 30 states, is ISO 9001-2015 certified, and complies with DoD Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) standards. Protecting Federal Contract Information (FCI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) is a priority to our team, and we are fully committed to supporting national security under CMMC.
We are proud of our achievements and look forward to what the future holds in this dynamic and challenging world.
